Be Inspired – Floriade Expo 2022

From April, 2022 until 9th October 2022, the Dutch city of Almere will be providing the stage for the International Horticultural Exhibition Floriade Expo 2022.

Floriade takes place once in a decade and the theme for the 2022 exhibition will be ‘Growing Green Cities‘. The exhibition will bring together the Dutch horticulture sector, in partnership with national and international participants, to exhibit green solutions that can make our cities more fun, liveable and sustainable.

The Nederlandse Tuinbouwraad [Dutch horticulture council], the Municipality of Almere and the Province of Flevoland, Floriade Expo 2022’s three founders, have joined forces with a single, communal objective: to find systemic innovations and solutions for sustainable, liveable cities. The event is expected to attract two million visitors and will see gardens and pavilions created by over 400 national and international participants.

Floriade will be a living laboratory that will touch the senses with inspiring gardens, conferences, workshops and exhibitions alongside attractions including an 850-metre cable car service and daily cultural programmes of theatre, dance and music.

There will be an Arboretum with an alphabetically organised tree and plant encyclopaedia that visitors can walk through, as well as a real estate permanent space for learning – once Floriade is over, the area will be developed into the Hortus urban district – a new green, virtually car-free environment, where new companies and knowledge institutions will base their operations.
