East meets West gardens at RHS Chelsea
A garden set to create a unique blend of European and Asian planting palettes is set to feature at the 2021 RHS Chelsea Flower Show, (21st to 26th September 2021).
Sponsored by Bodmin Jail Hotel, the ‘60o East: A Garden Between Continents‘ show garden is designed by Ekaterina Zasukhina with Carly Kershaw. The garden features a sweeping naturalistic composition evocative of the unsurpassed beauty of the Ural Mountain landscapes and is inspired by a garden in the heart of Yekaterinburg – 60o East is a green jewel amid towering architecture.
The garden will be filled with colour and promises to be an invigorating place for the soul, calming the mind and drawing visitors on a journey leading up to tumbling cascades and a pool, with willow, rock and pine, capturing the magic of the Ural Mountains.
The two designers are making their Chelsea debut with the important message of the need to protect the region’s forests and rivers, which are coming under threat from industry.
Look out for refreshing greens contrasting with dark quartzites and the national plant of Russia, Matricaria recutita providing groundcover.
