Plantes de Chantilly, May 2023

In the enchanting grounds of the Château de Chantilly (near Paris) every May and October, les Journées des Plantes de Chantilly are attended by seasoned and novice gardeners. The event brings together more than 200 of Europe’s most prestigious nursery professionals and exhibitors, providing an occasion for exchange and discovery, gardening trends and new plants.

The spring event starts on 12th May through to the 14th and will see practical workshops, book signings and special events as gardeners come to discover things they can’t find elsewhere. Easy-to-grow plants, garden furniture and effective organic products will be available as well as expert advice from top professionals.

The 2023 theme is Cultivating well-being and visitors will be able to discover the myriad of plants that can be used for wellness, as remedies, for relief and relaxation.

As the organisers point out, from an emotional view, plants appeal to our five senses as effective vectors of well-being and are therefore a factor in our emotional health. From a psychological point of view, growing plants and having to take the seasons into account places us in a slower pace than that imposed by our hyperactive daily life. From a physical point of view, gardening is a source of exercise that is healthy for muscles and bones and finally from a social point of view it can create strong connections – people swap seeds, plants, tips and advice and share what they grow.
