Candide Festival set to make May marvellous

Candide Gardening will be hosting a month-long online festival during May 2021 to kick-start summer in a joyful celebration of gardens, plants, pollinators and people!

The Candide Festival of Flowers promises to be a floral ‘take over’ that will run throughout the whole of May, when Candide will provide a bloomin’ fantastic online display, including live videos from favourite gardeners and from some of the UK’s finest public open gardens. There will also be a ‘bouquet’ of inspiration on floral and planting design, together with a selection of detailed guides on spring and summer flowering plants, all accessible via and its social media platforms.

One of the highlights of the Festival will be the unveiling of what would have been Hardy’s Cottage Garden Plants final display at Chelsea. Following the cancellation of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in May 2021 – re-arranged for September 2021 – Hardy’s were disappointed not to have had the opportunity to create their final exhibit.

Now, with the support of Candide, the show will go on – online! Hardy’s will create what would have been their exhibit, but instead of being in the Grand Pavilion, the display will be created as a walk-through Festival Flower Garden in their grounds of their nursery in Hampshire, for all visitors to enjoy.

The Candide Festival of Flowers will allow online visitors to take a unique, sneak peek behind the scenes of Hardy’s festival garden, providing an insight into how a stunning medal-winning display is created. Rosy Hardy, who is passionate about providing plants for UK pollinators will be providing a host of videos and live streams throughout the week from the nursery. She will also be joining Candide’s hive of activity on 20th May for World Bee Day when the buzz will be all about providing the perfect plants for pollinators.

We all know what sheer delight Hardy’s displays always are and we can rest assured that their display for The Festival Flower Garden will be bursting with hundreds of perennial plants and shrubs, which Hardy’s have grown and nurtured for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show over the last two years.

If you would like to see the beauty of Hardy’s Festival Garden up close and personal, there will be an opportunity to book a relaxed, socially distanced time slot, to visit the nursery from 18th May into June. Tickets are free but any donations provided by visitors will be donated to Hardy’s local children’s charity Naomi House & Jacksplace.

The month long celebrations will also see special events planned on 9th May to celebrate Garden Day, including educational and inspiring articles around flowers, pollinators and what to do in your garden on that day.

Commenting, Candide’s PR and Communications Lead, Helen Allsebrook said: “We are so excited to provide a month of floral positivity in May after everyone has had such a tough year. We are also absolutely delighted to provide Hardy’s with a unique platform for what would have been their biggest, best, and final RHS Chelsea Flower Show exhibit.

“Unveiling their display as The Festival Flower Garden will be a highlight in our month-long celebration which will be a hugely accessible online movement. Thousands of people can take part in without the need for a ticket! We want people to unite and share their love of plants, gardens and nature and to kick start the summer with a much-needed floral bang!”
