Petersham Nurseries opens in Covent Garden

An unparalleled lifestyle destination has opened on King Street in London’s Covent Garden with the launch of Petersham Nurseries Covent Garden shop.

Launching in two phases – the second on Wednesday 2nd August 2017 – the lifestyle, home and garden shop is true to the horticultural origins of the family business and the heritage of Covent Garden’s past.

Bringing the garden back to Covent Garden, the Boglione family remains rooted to their blend of Italian and British culture. While maintaining their passion for simplicity, flora, fauna and responsibly sourced produce, they have created an unrivalled setting within this urban environment.

Lara Boglione, managing director and eldest daughter of Francesco and Gael, continues to cultivate and develop the brand’s philosophy and values in this new venture. The shop represents the individual style and elegance for which Petersham Nurseries is renowned. An impressive Grade II listed building provides a perfect home for the new shop, set beneath three majestic Victorian atriums and abundant with trees and greenery.

The shop offers handpicked collections of homeware, furniture and gifts from chandeliers and Murano glassware, to Italian hand-painted linen and cotton towels, each item carefully chosen by the Boglione family.

It will also offer specialist indoor plants and floral displays sitting alongside artisanal gardening tools. With an emphasis on urban gardening, the shop will provide inspiration for window boxes and terrariums.

A potting service prepares and plants window boses and containers for customers to take away.

Wednesday 2nd August sees the second phase of the venture when a Delicatessen opens, bringing the spirit of a traditional Italian grocery store to this elegant setting in central London.

Travelling extensively around the UK and Italy, Lara has been searching for the finest and most delicious tasting produce.

The new Delicatessen will showcase items from small artisan suppliers and provide a selection of the best seasonal fruit and vegetables, some of which is provided by Haye Farm, owned by the youngest brother Harry Boglione.

The Delicatessen will also stock a selection of Petersham Nurseries own line of james, honey, tea and coffee.

Petersham Cellar, founded by Lara Boglione and her husband, Giovanni Mazzei of Marchesi Mazzei, offers an ever-evolving selection of carefully sourced and handpicked fine Italian wines. The Cellar team are on hand to suggest and advise on wines and pairings.

Capturing the true essence of Petersham Nurseries, the Florist will provide seasonal, British grown flowers and bespoke seasonal bouquets and posies.

The venture, at a later date, will also see the opening of The Petersham, a sophisticated à la carte restaurant that takes its inspiration from the family home and La Goccia, a vibrant informal restaurant and bar serving small plates. Both restaurants will flow onto Floral Court, the central courtyard, providing a beautiful green space for al fresco dining.
