Scandinavian lifestyle garden for LG Smart Garden

banner-designLG’s Smart Garden, to be designed by Hay Joung Hwang, at the 2016 RHS Chelsea Flower Show, is inspired by the concept of intelligent homes and is intended to demonstrate that technology can be incorporated harmoniously into the house as well as to enhance the garden.

Hay has designed a garden that will represent a Scandinavian lifestyle garden with brighter colour choices within the minimalist design, softened by a planting scheme that has a natural character.

The mix of herbaceous plants will add a soft quality while multi-stemmed trees provide privacy and filter the views from the house. The garden demonstrates contrasts between formal and informal as well as the balance between naturalism and artificialism – a metaphor for modern life.

Sponsor LG Electronics UK designs consumer electronics that are responsible and energy efficient. They will provide the’‘smart’ elements of the Chelsea garden, including the tablets, screens and the R&D required to make this prototype Smart Garden a reality.

Miss Hay Joung Hwang is an interior designer and a landscape architect. She exhibited in Seoul, South Korea in 2015 and the International Garden Festival Chaumont sur Loire in 2014. She is excited to be designing a garden for RHS Chelsea and looks forward to sharing the pleasure of her garden with visitors.

Smart technology is very much part of our life today and it will be interesting to see this design and how it incorporates that part of our lifestyle.
